Am I ready for a Spirit companion?

Am I ready for a Spirit companion?

Introduction

Am I Ready for a Spirit companion? I remember when I formally asked myself this question. I had already been practicing my conjuring but had not really stopped to think about the implications of what that meant. I think this question is one many beginners have and its completely valid to ask! In today's post we'll go over three main points to determine if you are ready for a spirit companion. Its important to note that everyone has a different standard when determining such matters and therefore these are my own personal values as Ive learned throughout my long journey. Its important to remember I am not an authority on Spirit companionship and that I simply wish to share what ive learned in a concise format so that beginners and seasoned practitioners can find information learned first hand from someone whose been in this community for some time.

Evaluating personal motivations and expectations

To start, Ask yourself why you're interested in spiritual companionship. Am I looking for friendship? Do i have goals I wish to accomplish? In my own experience defining what you want out of your relationships with your spirits helps both you and them in the long run by keeping you grounded and aware of your desires and giving the spirits a good idea if you're a good match for them or not. Obviously our goals change over time and Its important to regularly evaluate things as we go!

Having realistic expectations is Vital to making connections with our spirits beneficial to both parties. Spirit companionship is a joint effort, a coming together of two parties working together in friendship or in purpose. I remember a client reaching out to me and asking if one of the companions on my store was able to protect them from car crashes. Like with any form of Magick Spirit companions cant do all the heavy lifting for you and so its best to go in and meet them half way.

Understanding the commitment required

You'll hear me say this a lot and probably get quite sick of it but Spirit companionship is a two way street, a joint effort that requires both parties to contribute. Every person is different just like very spirit is different and so how each setup works is going to be unique to you. Most spirit companions will really appreciate offerings. Most conjurers will include what these companions like. You can think of these offerings as gifts in exchange for their friendship or aid.

Most spirits that I conjure or work with prefer personal time together as an offering and I can often group them together or go out and do activities with them which helps me bond and feel closer to them all. Individual bonding is also heavily encouraged and I really want to stress that just like you would with a human friend, keep in touch regularly, and don't forget to do things together.

Assessing spiritual readiness

One thing I often get asked is how do my clients know they are ready for a spirit based on their psychic abilities. Contrary to what you might hear, Spirit companionship does in my opinion require some form of communication to be frequently worked with. This could be Tarot/Oracle, Pendulum or your Clairs. I remember speaking to an old friend who worked in this field who said "you wouldn't want to bring home a friend knowing you couldn't speak their language" and I think that's a really good way to put it.

Each individual spirit will communicate differently as will each human. As a medium my telepathy is my main go to but I also use Tarot/Oracle cards to verify as well as pendulum. Being able to verify what you're hearing is essential and key to making things work. If you figure out which style of communication works best for you then you can match easier with companions who are able to effectively communicate!

A note on Gatekeeping and what others may tell you

On gatekeeping, No one can tell you when you are ready or not. In the end your readiness is determined by you and you alone. Listen to your gut and intuition and make sure you understand the commitment required of you before diving in. I have had people tell me that using Tarot/Oracle to communicate with spirits is not valid or that other methods aren't valid but these statements are false, misleading and gatekeepy. What works for you sometimes wont work for others and that's okay!

You do not need to be telepathic to work with spirits! This is a common mistake many make! Telepathy is a hard skill to develop and some just arent able to!

Conclusion

Spirit companionship requires mutual trust, grounded expectations, and a willingness to work and grow together. Communication is vital to making relationships work.
